Have a Lovely (Long) Weekend.

What are you up to this weekend? Our friend Naudia is getting married, and I can’t wait to dance with her mom! We might also make a strawberry cake to ring in the summer. Hope you have a good one, and here are a few links from around the web…

Um, I’m good, thanks.

Wait! Should we be having potato chips with pickle dip?!

Confessions of a perpetually single woman. “I’m 33 years old, and I’ve been single my entire life… the whole time. Single may not even be the right word, because absence implies a memory of what once took its place. I’m single the way a baby is single.” (Elle)

How beautiful is this Swedish home?

Definitely taking this book on our trip.

Forget drinks, let’s get ice cream. “Recently, after grabbing ice cream at a small shop… a friend led me to a nearby park, where we rested beside a quartet of misters to cool off. As we ate, a pit bull chomped adorably at the head of a sprinkler, a scene we never would have encountered stapled to a barstool.” (Elle)

Love the combo of a pretty white dress + denim jacket.

What you are looking for, that’s what you see.” I think about this concept all the time.

Six one-day itineraries for NYC. Thumbs up.

Busted, always, haha.

Finally, we are hiring a part-time editorial/administrative assistant with WordPress experience (this is key!). You would work remotely, and the rate is $35/hour. Read more here, if you’re interested. Thank you so much!

Plus, three reader comments:

Says Emily on four fun things: “This slide video has me in tears laughing! It reminds me of when I took my two-year-old daughter on a ferris wheel, and she sat perfectly still and silent, gazing out at the city. I thought she was in awe until the ride stopped and she said, ‘So what does a ferris wheel do? Can we ride one now?’”

Says Elizabeth on 9 movies/shows with gay characters that meant a lot to me: “Please everyone go watch Heartstopper now, if you haven’t. Not only great queer representation, it’s just a wonderful show full stop and possibly the sweetest thing I’ve ever seen. It’s so very, very good!”

Says Anonymous on last week’s link list: “I’m an abortion provider in a state where abortion will remain legal, but in a very conservative town. As a result, I’m always cautious when meeting new people, because you never know who’s ‘safe,’ checking to make sure I’m not followed home from work, and avoiding public appearances and interviews for fear of my safety. Since the SCOTUS ruling, friends and family have reached out and asked how to help. I’m amazed at all the needs others have identified – donating, canvassing, protesting, registering people to vote, etc. May I add one more? Show up for the people who work in abortion clinics. It is a lonely job and now, more than ever, we need to see the support in our community. Send flowers to your local clinic, have lunch catered for them, send them a handwritten card thanking them for their work, volunteer as a clinic escort. Wear a shirt in public that says ‘I’m pro-choice!’ Put a sign in your front yard so we know where our allies are. Please show me you’re out there, so I can keep showing up here.”
