Kapil Dev lashes out at star trio – The former World Cup-winning captain didn’t hold back and criticsied the star trio of Rohit, Virat and Rahul while he spoke on Youtube channel Uncut, “They have a big reputation and there’s huge pressure on them, which shouldn’t be the case. You have to play fearless cricket.
“All of these are players who can hit at a strike rate of 150-160. Whenever we need them to score runs, they all get out. When it is time to take off (in the innings), they are out.
“And that adds to pressure. Either you play an anchor or you play striker,” Kapil added during the conversation.
BCCI might have to think otherwise –
Kapil further went on to add that, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) might have to think otherwise if the star trio keeps on disappointing, “When you talk about KL Rahul, if the team tells him to play the entire 20 overs and you come back with a score of, say 60 not out, you’re not doing justice to your team,” said Kapil.
“I think the approach needs to change. And if it doesn’t, you have to change the players. A big player is expected to make a big impact. Having a big reputation is not enough, you also have to deliver great performances.”

Both India and South Africa prepare for the clash-
- Both teams have started preparations for the opening T20I in Delhi as a full house is expected at the Arun Jaitley stadium.
- While Rahul is under the scanner, it is worth reminding that only Jos Buttler scored more runs than him in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
- It is expected that bowling star duo of Arshadeep Singh and Umran Malik are likely to be handed their first cap for the national side after impressing in the IPL 2022.
- On the flip side South Africa are also preparing for the clash as Temba Bavuma’s side has started preparations in nets after arriving on Thursday.
