On the first day Indian men’s team drew 2-2 against Pakistan. In the second match India got their first victory as they defeated Switzerland 4-3. They are currently placed at the third spot on the table and they will need to win both their matches on Sunday to seal top two finish.

India will face Malaysia in the first match of the day and will then play Poland in the last league game. Malaysia are so far winless and are placed on the last spot on the table. Meanwhile, Poland top the table as they have won 2 out of the 3 matches played.

The Indian men’s hockey team led by Gurinder Singh, has so far scene some brilliant performances from in-form Mohammed Raheel, who has scored thrice in both the matches on the first day. Apart from him,  Rabichandra Moirangthem, Captain Gurinder Singh and Gursahibjit Singh have all scored in the tournament so far.

Indian men have so far showcased good attacking skills and challenged their opposition. They will wish to continue the same on Sunday. However, they have to keep an eye on the defence. Against Pakistan, they couldn’t control the Pakistan attack that saw them concede the second goal as the match ended in a draw. Gurinder Singh’s men will look to seal a spot in the finals when they take the field.

Meanwhile, Indian Women’s team are yet to win a single match in the tournament. They lost both their matches on the opening day and find themselves on the bottom of the table. On Sturday, they losy 1-3 to Poland and 3-4 to Uruguay.

Even if the team win their next two matches, it will be difficult to seal Top 2 spot. Ajmina Kujur is the top-scorer for India so far as she has scored two goals. Vaishnavi Vithal Phalke and Rashmitha Minz too scored on the first day.

However the team lacks the killer instinct in the attcking half and were rather slow in their approach in both their matches on Saturday. The defence looked good but they couldn’t manage to restrict their opponents from scoring. India’s captain Rajani Etimarpu stood tall in the defence but she needs lot of work and penetration from her attackers to win matches.

Switzerland are currently on the second spot on the table, having won 2 out of 3 matches in the competition, meanwhile South Africa won one match and lost one and find themselves at third spot on the table. India must look to win against both these opponents.
