Regina King was listed as one of the co-chairs for the 2022 Met Gala, so she was expected to be in attendance at the annual event this year.

The 51-year-old Oscar-winning actress didn’t not walk the carpet at the event and it’s unclear if she was actually at the gala on Monday evening (May 2) at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Fans are sending love to Regina on social media as they know what she’s going through right now.

Regina‘s son Ian Alexander, Jr. passed away in January 2022, just days after his 26th birthday. It was reported that he committed suicide.

“Our family is devastated at the deepest level by the loss of Ian,” Regina shared in a statement at the time. “He is such a bright light who cared so deeply about the happiness of others. Our family asks for respectful consideration during this private time. Thank you.”

The co-chairs were named in May 2022, but it seems Regina likely was not up to the task of being on the carpet despite the previous announcement. We’re sending our continued love her way!
