IPL Ratings Improve: BARC Week 16: Saturday, 16th April 2022 to Friday, 22nd April 2022

  • According to Data Released by BARC for Week 16, the ratings slide of last 3 weeks is halted
  • The ratings in Week 16 are seeing 9% increase vis a vis last week.
  • For Week 16 Star Sports Hindi 1 has become No. 1 channel. Star Sports Hindi has pushed SUN TV & Star MAA to number 2 & No. 3 positions respectively.

How the IPL 2022 Fared in 1st three weeks?

The 1st week of IPL LIVE Broadcast ratings saw 33% drop. In the 2nd week, the IPL Ratings witnessed 28% drop vis a vis last year. Even in 3rd Week of IPL Ratings were below par.

BCCI too were getting concerned with fall in viewership numbers.

“We haven’t seen the entire viewership report as yet. But any fall in television ratings is a concern. The matches and standard of cricket is absolutely top class. We are sure the ratings will pick up in coming weeks”, said a top BCCI official

Drop in IPL 2022 Viewership

  • Week 1 of IPL 2022 – Ratings Drop by 33% vis a vis Week 1 of IPL 2021
  • Week 2 of IPL 2022 – Ratings Drop by 28% vis a vis Week 2 of IPL 2021
  • Week 3 of IPL 2022 too witness small drop in Ratings.

“This wasn’t expected. The IPL Ratings are below-par. The ratings have never fallen this much. It’s almost 20-30% down and just imagine we have paid 25% more than last rates. We have already reached out to Star Sports for a solution”, informed a top ON-AIR advertiser on IPL 2022.

InsideSport also reached out to Disney Star Sports Network for their take on the fall in rating last week but did not get any reply.
