Barcelona veteran Gerard Pique may have to settle for a place on the bench when the Blaugrana travel to Turkey to face Galatasaray in the Europa League.

The Catalan side were comfortable 3-0 victors over Osasuna at the weekend, but the result was slightly soured by the injury suffered by Pique, as he was subsequently spotted with an ice pack on his groin.

With the Clasico against Real Madrid coming up on Sunday, the Spaniard may be rested by Xavi for this one.

That could mean a starting berth for Eric Garcia at the back alongside Ronald Araujo.

Ansu Fati, Alejandro Balde, Sergi Roberto, and Samuel Umtiti remain long-term absentees for Barca.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen will start in goal behind a likely back four of Sergino Dest, Garcia, Araujo and Jordi Alba.

Dani Alves is not in Barcelona’s Europa League squad and so is ineligible.

Frenkie de Jong was rested at the weekend so we might see him return to the starting XI at the expense of Gavi. Sergio Busquets and Pedri will probably retain their places from the Osasuna win.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ousmane Dembele and Ferran Torres were all excellent in La Liga, and Xavi could keep things the same for the front three versus Galatasaray.

The first leg a week ago between Barca and the Turkish giants ended 0-0 at Camp Nou.
