Arsenal moved back above Manchester United in the race for fourth spot with a comfortable 2-0 win over Leicester on Sunday.

Thomas Partey headed home the opener for the Gunners on 11 minutes before Alexandre Lacazette made things safe with a penalty on 59 minutes.

That result meant Arsenal moved back into fourth on 51 points.

They are one point above Man Utd, but also have three games in hand over their rivals.

Manchester United had temporarily moved into the Premier League top four with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Despite Harry Maguire’s best attempts to upend his team’s chances of claiming all three points with a second half own goal, Cristiano Ronaldo came to the rescue for his side with a remarkable hat-trick.

West Ham kept up their hopes of Champions League football by beating Aston Villa 2-1 thanks to goals from Andriy Yarmolenko and Pablo Fornals.

Chelsea consolidated third place with a 1-0 win over the in-form Newcastle at Stamford Bridge.

A sublime pass from Jorginho and finish from Kai Havertz on 89 minutes won Chelsea the points to bring some good news after a terrible week for the club.

Liverpool continued their attempts to keep pace with Manchester City, with a confident 2-0 victory over Brighton.

Fans of the Anfield club were left purring, following goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah and an overall performance that suggested that Jurgen Klopp’s side have plenty left in the tank to challenge City for another league title.

At the other end of the table, it was a bad weekend for Everton.

They lost 1-0 at home to Wolves, while Leeds beat Norwich 2-1 and Watford won 2-1 at Southampton.

That means that Watford and Everton are level on points in the final relegation spot in 18th place, although the latter have a better goal difference.

Brentford put further distance between themselves and the relegation spots by beating Burnley 2-0 at the Brentford Community Stadium.

A brace from Ivan Toney proved more than enough to down Burnley, who currently sit on just one away win for the season and, most worryingly, still in 19th.
