Former Haas F1 Team driver Kevin Magnussen will be returning for the 2022 Formula 1 season.

The Danish driver, who lined up for Haas from 2017 to 2020, will be replacing Russia’s Nikita Mazepin. Haas terminated Mazepin’s contract last Saturday following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The team also ended their partnership with Russian sponsor Uralkali.

Magnussen has 119 F1 starts, including a second place finish with McLaren at the 2014 Australian Grand Prix. He started his F1 career in 2014 with McLaren but was bumped down to reserve driver in 2015. He then moved to Renault in 2016 before finally inking a deal with Haas.

After leaving the F1 grid at the end of the 2020 season, Magnussen notably raced in IndyCar and competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans alongside his father, Jan.
