Manchester City thrashed Manchester United 4-1 in the derby on Sunday afternoon to reopen a six-point lead at the top of the table.

Kevin de Bruyne was the star of the show as he scored twice and also set up one, with Riyad Mahrez grabbing a double as well.

Jadon Sancho scored Man Utd‘s goal as they were completely dominated in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo.

This result means that Man City have reopened a six-point lead over Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table, although Liverpool have a game in hand and a better goal difference.

Liverpool had temporarily closed the gap to just three points with a 1-0 victory over West Ham on Saturday.

A single goal from Sadio Mane in the first half was enough to earn Jurgen Klopp’s side maximum points.

It was a bad weekend for Man Utd and West Ham in the race for the top four.

Arsenal jumped over both of them and into fourth place after beating Watford 3-2 at Vicarage Road.

Bukayo Saka was fantastic, scoring one and making one for Martin Odegaard. Gabriel Martinelli scored Arsenal‘s other goal.

Cucho Hernandez hit the goal of the game with a brilliant bicycle kick, while Moussa Sissoko brought Watford late hope.

Arsenal are now one point above Man Utd and two ahead of West Ham, with three games in hand. They are looking good to finish fourth and could even catch Chelsea above them.

Chelsea might have stopped their slump in form by hammering Burnley on Saturday, but even after three successive league victories, Thomas Tuchel’s side remain 16 points behind Man City.

Saturday was not a good day for the other clubs that started the weekend in the top half of the table and who were in action. Wolves, Southampton and Brighton were all defeated.

In the relegation zone, Norwich’s situation now looks hopeless as they remain rooted to the foot of the standings with 17 points from 27 games. They were beaten 3-1 at home to Brentford thanks to an Ivan Toney hat-trick, which has given the Bees some valuable breathing space in the battle against the drop.

Leeds, who sacked manager Marcelo Bielsa earlier this week and replaced him with Jesse Marsch, also suffered a defeat that keeps them in the thick of trouble. They went down 1-0 against Leicester, though the overall performance was a heartening one.
