Ukrainian MP Kira Rudik has urged the West to implement a no-fly zone in Ukraine to prevent another nuclear disaster.
In a Twitter post, she pointed out that more than 8,500,000 people were affected by the radiation from the 1986 Chernobyl tragedy.
The tragedy claimed the lives of 500,000 people.
“Now, it could happen again,” Ms Rudik warned.
She said: “Intentionally or unintentionally, Ukrainian nuclear plants are being hit. We need a no-fly zone!”
Ms Rudik is referring to the shelling of the Zaporizhzhia power plant, the largest of its kind in Europe.
A nuclear disaster there would be 10 times larger than the Chernobyl tragedy.
