According to TMZ, Samantha, 57, claimed in new court documents that Meghan made about lies about her and their family during her and husband Prince Harry‘s March 2021 tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Samantha – who wrote the “tell-all” book about Meghan titled Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister – accused Meghan of making up stories about growing up in “virtual poverty.”
Samantha claimed that their father, Thomas Markle, paid for Meghan to attend “elite and expensive private schools” and also alleged that Thomas covered Meghan‘s tuition at Northwestern University, despite Meghan saying she worked to pay her way through college.
Also in the lawsuit, Samantha reportedly claimed that Meghan lied in her interview about the most recent time they saw each other, and also when Samantha decided to change her last name back to Markle.
During her interview with Oprah, Meghan claimed that she had not seen Samantha in “at least 18, 19 years” and also alleged that Samantha “changed her last name back to Markle in her early 50s … only when I started dating Harry,” adding, “So, I think that says enough.”
Samantha further alleged that Meghan lied about her and Thomas, 77, so that they “could not interfere with or contradict the false narrative and fairytale life story [she] concocted.” She also reportedly accused Meghan of negatively affecting the sales of Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister, preventing her from getting jobs and causing her emotional and mental distress.
Meghan‘s attorney Michael Kump fired back at Samantha‘s allegations, telling TMZ in a statement, “This baseless and absurd lawsuit is just a continuation of a pattern of disturbing behavior. We will give it the minimum attention necessary, which is all it deserves.”
