I dream each night of a small bungalow
somewhere in the French countryside
A place to rest on the shaded verandah
to watch my simple life go by.
I wrap myself in old cashmere
I bought long ago
in a quaint Paris brocante
never minding tiny moth holes.
I tie a red bandana
’round the neck of my happy dog
so I can always spot him from afar
as we take a stroll down the dusty road
to the boulangerie for a crusty loaf.
I stir from my sleep when the sun rises
yet there is where I want to stay
lost in my dreams where I can feel
the gentle wind as it kisses my face.
