ENGLAND vs New Zealand Highlights – Day 3: Chasing 277 to win, England were in tatters having lost four wickets scoring just 69 runs.
Kyle Jamieson wrecked havoc with this three wicket haul, while it was Trent Boult who cleaned up Ollie Pope.
Colin de Grandhomme had then cleaned up England captain Ben Stokes, only for the decision to be cancelled due to a no ball. After the reprieve, Stokes made New Zealand pay stitching a 90-run stand with Root.
Stokes eventually departed for 54.
Root rallied along to take England to stumps without anymore casualties, as the hosts ended day 3 at 216/5
Earlier, New Zealand have set a challenging 277-run target for England. It was Daryl Mitchell and Tom Blundell whose heroic 195-run stand helped New Zealand avoid embarrassment. But on Day 3, James Anderson and Stuart Broad broke the stand and cleaned up the tail after a 30-minute rain delay.
New Zealand began at 236/4 with Blundell and Mitchell adding 180 runs. Mitchell soon got his century, his 2nd in Test cricket. But then, suddenly, Stuart Broad’s over changed the complexion of the match.
Broad first removed Daryl Mitchell with a fine outswinger. The next to go was Colin de Grandhomme who was run-out. In the fifth ball, Broad clean bowled Kyle Jamieson to rattle Kiwis.

Tom Blundell and Daryl Mitchell put on a marathon act as England could muster only a solitary wicket post lunch as New Zealand mounted an incredible comeback to take control of the Test. The Kiwis seemed down and out at 56/4, but the two right handed batsmen frustrated new captain Ben Strokes with a deadly partnership.
Earlier on Day 2, England’s tail failed to wag as the hosts were tumbled out for 141, handing them a nine-run lead. And like on Day 1, the Kiwis struggled big time, losing quick wickets with debutant Matty Potts striking twice.
