What I love most about this whiskey sour recipe is how simple it is. There are a number of ways and variations on a whiskey sour, but this is a simple version with sour mix and no egg white.
What is in a whiskey sour?
The recipe below is three ingredients (plus garnish): whiskey, sour mix, and a splash of club soda. If you don’t have sour mix and can’t be bothered to make it you can substitute it (see recipe notes).
This classic cocktail remind me of one of my favorite cocktail of all time: a sidecar. It’s simple to make, on the boozy side, but still really refreshing with a big hit of citrus.
If you want a whiskey sour with egg white (for that foamy top) try this peach and basil whiskey sour recipe.

If you don’t have sour mix and don’t want to take the time to make it, here is an alternative: Combine 2 ounces whiskey, 2 ounces lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon powdered sugar in a cocktail mixer with ice. Shake well to dissolve the sugar. Strain and serve over ice.
