Actor and dancer Siyabonga Zubane who appeared in the role of car hijacker Sdumo in the Gomora telenovela on Mzansi Magic (DStv 161) has died after committing suicide. He was 23.
Siyabonga Zubane died on Saturday in his rental home in Soweto. He was originally from Alexandra, the township in which Gomora is set.
“We are saddened about the passing of Siyabonga Zubane. His debut TV role in 2017 was Bhungezi on Isibaya. Recently, he was Sdumo on Gomora. We’d like to extend our condolences to Siyabonga’s family. His contribution to the TV industry will be treasured,” says Shirley Adonisi, M-Net director for local entertainment channels, in a statement.
Siyabonga Zubane’s aunt Nomvula told DRUM his housemates found him in bed and took him to the hospital after contacting his family.
