President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has arrived in Moscow for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Russian soldiers are currently in Belarus for what has been described as military drills.

The force in Belarus is the largest Russia presence there since the end of the Cold War.

The troops are set to withdraw from Belarus on Sunday, but there are indications they could stay longer, with the leaders set to discuss a plan in their meeting today.

Mr Lukashenko said earlier this week: “If we take a decision, we’ll remove (the force) within 24 hours. If we decide a month, they’ll stay for a month.

“The armed forces will stay as long as needed.”
