“And the winner of Eurovision 2022 is…. hold the phone, we’re just getting the Logie nominations in.”
Sunday May 15 will be a very big morning for television news.
Both the Eurovision Song Contest Final and the Logie Award nomination events are set to take place, the first in two years.
The news could even be made public just minutes apart. The Logie nominations event is held from 8am AEST on the Gold Coast, in order for breakfast TV shows such as Weekend Today and Weekend Sunrise to feature live crosses.
But it’s often around 8am or so that the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest is decided too, due to the timezones with Europe.
That’s going to have SBS publicists torn and social media in overdrive.
At present Australia is not one of the favourites to win in Turin, but Sheldon Riley is also yet to reveal his staging.
