Who is Charles Fogelman?

Outside of Jeopardy! Fogelman, 43, is known as a human-environment geographer who works at the University of Illinois.

“I am a human geographer who studies the relationships between humans and the environment,” his LinkedIn bio reads.

“My current project focuses on a variety of land reform projects sponsored by the U.S. government, under the aegis of the Millennium Challenge Corporation.

“I am interested in the ways that the laws, regulations, and social relationships that comprise land rights systems are created and transformed in different places at different times.”

His primary research interests include wealth and poverty, land tenure, gender and development, and climate change adaptation.

Prior to his career at the University of Illinois, he obtained his undergraduate degree at Marquette University and doctorate at Illinois.

How long will Charles be on Jeopardy!?

After finishing in first place on February 16, Fogelman secured his spot for Thursday’s game, alongside Linda Sellars and Matt Takimoto, however, it remains unclear if he will go further.

Jeopardy! episodes are taped months before airing so while Fogelman knows how long his run will be, fans will just have to tune in to find out.

What have students said about Charles’ classes?

Rate My Professor is a popular website among college students which allows them to rate their professors on a scale of 1-5 and provide feedback on their teaching techniques and styles.

As of February 2022, Fogelman has a perfect rating with 100 percent of students saying they would take his class again.

“Class was always fun and he let students give lots of input during lectures,” one student wrote. “Grading on essays was kind of tough but thought provoking. Great during office hours and was always around to help or just talk.”

Another added, “He’s authentic and will give things to you straight. He’s funny and also kind of a dork, but he loves his job and is passionate about the things he talks about.”

A third wrote, “Any class by Charles is a good time. He is funny, flexible, and enjoys connecting with students. He doesn’t teach anything in either of my majors but I still try to take his classes.”
