IPL 2022 Playoff Scenario: Can Mumbai Indians still qualify? Check Playoff chances of GT, RR, RCB, KKR, SRH, LSG, CSK, PBKS, DC, MI
Gujarat Titans (1st, 12 Points): Top of the Points Table, Gujarat Titans have 12 points from 7 matches, having lost just one game.
- GT need to win two matches out of five to confirm their place in the Playoff as 16 points would be enough in a 10-team tournament.
- GT’s remaining matches: SRH, RCB, PBKS, MI, LSG, CSK, RCB
Sunrisers Hyderabad (2nd, 10 Points): The most remarkable turnaround has been from SRH. After losing the first two matches, SRH have gone on to win five matches on the trot to climb to the 2nd place with 10 points from 7 matches.
- SRH need to win at least three matches out of remaining 7.
- SRH’s remaining matches: GT, CSK, DC, RCB, KKR, MI, PBKS
Rajasthan Royals (3rd, 10 Points): Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) have been exceptional this season. They own the Orange Cap (Jos Buttler) and Purple Cap (Yuzvendra Chahal). With 5 wins in 7 games, RR need 3 victories in the remaining 7 fixtures.
- RR need to win at least three matches more to seal their deal.
- Three wins in the remaining seven matches can also see them through to the Playoffs with 14 points but they will need to have a better run rate.
- RR Remaining Matches: RCB, MI, KKR, PBKS, DC, LSG, CSK

Lucknow Super Giants (4th, 10 Points): LSG after win over MI are at No. 4 in IPL Points Table with 5 victories from 8 matches. All they need to do now is to win at least three matches out of the remaining 6 matches to QUALIFY for playoffs.
- Win three matches out of 6 to qualify.
- LSG can also qualify with 14 points or two wins in 6 games but it will depend on other results.
- LSG Remaining matches: PBKS, DC, KKR, GT, RR, KKR
Royal Challengers Bangalore (5th, 10 Points): Faf du Plessis’ Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have registered 5 wins in 8 matches, including 68-run all out humiliation against SRH. They need to win 3 matches out of the remaining 6 games.
- RCB need to win at least 3 matches out of six to qualify.
- But the three wins should be with good margins as RCB have a negative Net Run Rate of -0.472.
- Two wins may not be enough for RCB as every loss will decrease the NRR further.
- RCB Remaining Matches: RR, GT, CSK, SRH, PBKS, GT

Delhi Capitals (6th, 6 Points): Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) which topped the Points Table last year has failed to get going. COVID cases also played a spoilsport in their last two matches. They have won only 3/7 matches and need to win at least 5 matches to book their slots in the playoffs.
- DC need to win at least 5 out of 7 matches to seal playoff berth.
- They can still qualify with 4 wins or 14 Points but it will depend on other results and NRR.
- DC Remaining matches: KKR, LSG, SRH, CSK, RR, PBKS, MI
Kolkata Knight Riders (7th, 6 Points): Shreyas Iyer & Co started KKR’s journey in IPL 2022 with a fascinating victory against defending champions CSK but has managed only 3 victories in 8 matches. KKR are on a 5-match losing streak. They need to win 5 matches in IPL 2022.
- KKR need to win at least 5 out of 6 matches to seal playoff spot.
- With four teams locked in at 10 points each, they may not be able to qualify with 14 points.
- DC Remaining Matches: KKR, LSG, SRH, CSK, RR, PBKS, MI

Punjab Kings (8th, 6 Points): PBKS’ aim to change their IPL fate under Mayank Agarwal seems to have failed. They have now registered only 3 wins in 8 matches in IPL 2022.
- PBKS need to win 5 out of 7 matches to qualify for playoffs.
- They need to improve their net run rate as PBKS have an NRR of -0.562.
- PBKS Remaining Matches: CSK, LSG, GT, RR, RCB, DC, SRH
Chennai Super Kings (9th, 4 Points): R Jadeja doesn’t seem to be enjoying his captaincy as he has failed to carry MS Dhoni’s legacy in IPL 2022. CSK have managed only a couple of wins in the first 7 matches with Dhoni playing a big part in the last win. They need 6 wins in the remaining 7 games to enter the playoffs.
- CSK need to win at least 6 out of 7 matches to qualify for Playoffs.
- They can also qualify with five wins but a lot will have to go in their favour.
- CSK Remaining Matches: PBKS, SRH, RCB, DC, MI, GT, RR
Mumbai Indians (10th, 0 Points): Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians (MI) who have won the title 5 times—most in IPL history—are lying at the bottom of the IPL 2022 Points Table without a single victory. They are all but out of the PLAYOFF RACE. They have lost all 8 Matches in IPL so far.
- MI will have to win all of their remaining 6 matches.
- The faint chance MI have will also depend on all other teams.
- MI have a negative NRR of 1.
- MI will have to win by big margins while will have to wait for other results to go their way.
- But if the Top 5 teams reach 14 Points, Mumbai will officially crash out.
- MI remaining matches: RR, GT, KKR, CSK, SRH, DC
