Who gets the Orange Cap? – Right from the time when IPL kickstarted in 2008, the orange cap was introduced, which would be awarded to the highest-run scorer of the tournament. Throughout the season, the orange cap holder will be changing and the one who finishes on top of the run chart once the season ends, will get an award in the replica of the orange cap and he will also be awarded 10 Lakhs as prize money.
The Orange Cap is offered to the leading run-scorer of the season.
- The batsman with the most runs in the tournament during the season would wear the Orange Cap while on the field.
- In case of a tie, the batsman with a better strike rate is awarded the Orange Cap.
- The Orange Cap owner who is fielding is allowed to wear the Orange Cap till the end of the innings even if an opposition batsman has overtaken his runs.
