Yuzvendra Chahal: RCB would be ruing not to retain or go after Yuzvendra Chahal. The experienced leg-spinner has reinvented his form, scalping 12 wickets so far in 5 matches to take the Purple Cap. With 4 wickets against LSG, he surpassed KKR’s Umesh Yadav and DC’s Kuldeep Yadav to go top.
Kuldeep Yadav: Kul-Cha pair is at the top. DC’s Kuldeep Yadav had an off day on Saturday but he managed a wicket and that took him to the joint second spot with LSG’s Avesh Khan.
T Natarajan: SRH’s young left-arm seamer delivered another powerful performance, taking three wickets against KKR. His 3/37 set the stage as SRH restricted KKR to 175/8 in 20 overs. Rules for IPL Purple Cap:
Who gets the Purple Cap? – Right from the time when IPL kickstarted in 2008, the purple cap was introduced, which would be awarded to the highest-wicket taker of the tournament. Throughout the season, the purple cap holder will be changing and the one who finishes on top of the wicket-takers chart once the season ends, will get an award in the replica of the purple cap. He will also be awarded 10 Lakhs as prize money.
- The Purple Cap is offered to the leading wicket-taker of the season.
- The bowler with the most wickets in the tournament during the season would wear the Purple Cap while in the field.
- In case of a tie, the Purple Cap is given to the bowler with a superior economy rate.
