Karim Benzema scored a second successive Champions League hat-trick as Real Madrid beat Chelsea 3-1 in their quarter-final first leg. Benzema’s hat-trick just weeks after the same against Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16 helped Carlo Ancelotti’s side take command of the tie at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea FC receives a big blow for their upcoming encounter against Real Madrid as the English side will be without the services of their Belgium Striker, Romelu Lukaku. Lukaku missing the all-important quarter-final tie against the Spanish side has been confirmed by manager Thomas Tuchel who claimed that Lukaku has not recovered from his injury and thus will not feature in the UEFA Champions League fixture.

Chelsea will travel to Madrid as they face the Los Blancos in the return leg of the quarter-finals clash. The defending champions of the UEFA Champions League were handed a comprehensive 3-1 defeat by the Madrid whites at Stamford Bridge.
