The family of 14-year-old Tyre Sampson had a busy day. After they laid the teen to rest, they hopped on social media to call out singer YK Osiris for allegedly not paying for the funeral after he volunteered. Earlier, Tyre’s brother wrote on Facebook, “YkOsiri or whatever dude name is canceled. Used lil bro for pure clout. Didn’t pay a dime but told the world otherwise. Even posted a fake screenshot of a GoFundMe donation. Stop pretending you care about giving back to the community just to get your sales up. Lame as hell.”
His mother cosigned the post, alleging that YK even blocked her on Instagram. It didn’t take long for the singer’s sister Armonie Williams to hop in and defend her brother and deny claims by the boy’s family. She shared a screenshot of the GoFundMe showing her brother donated $15,000 to the funeral costs, but Tyre’s brother claimed the screenshot was photoshopped.
YK eventually broke his silence and wrote on his message on his Instagram story, “The devil is moving.” In addition, an alleged text conversation with Tyre’s mother, Nekia Dodd, surfaced as well. In the message, Nekia wrote, “As of now, no expenses have been paid nor any contributions made! So please do me a favor and use the same platform you used when “you were looking for me” and tell everyone how you did nothing. And please do not show up to my son’s funeral! You be blessed!”
YK was adamant about clearing his and released a screen recording showing another conversation with Nekia and his name on the fundraiser list for the GoFundMe account. According to GoFundMe’s website, some donations may not appear on the fundraiser due to processing times.
The singer made one final post clearing the air letting Tyre’s family know there was no issue on his end. We will continue to keep Tyre’s family in our thoughts at this time!
