I’m A Celebrity UK expecting to return to Australia

I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here UK is hoping to return to Australia for its next season after two seasons at Gwrych Castle, in North Wales due to the pandemic.

The site at Dungay, New South Wales, is the same site used by the 10 series hosted by Julia Morris and Dr. Chris Brown.

Last month ITV boss Carolyn McCall confirmed: “If we can go back to Australia – and this show is meant to be in Australia – then that’s what we’ll do.”

But the Brits are also looking at a change to their usual production schedule.

According to The Mirror, ITV bosses are considering airing the show from the end of October rather than the usual November slot, to accommodate the World Cup.

The FIFA tournament kicks off in Qatar in mid-November so bosses reportedly hope to have already crowned a winner by the time it starts.

If the Australian version is again planning a local pre-recorded season, and not live from South Africa, ITV Studios Australia will have to work around the site’s availability (which is also used by the German production).

10 has previously flagged a desire to return to South Africa, but yet to confirm plans.

10 head of entertainment Stephen Tate recently told TV Tonight, “We’re already planning for 2023. The big question mark at the moment is ‘Where are we going to be?’ Are we back in South Africa? Are we here in Australia? It’s a footloose production so we could be anywhere in the world that is going to provide a jungle.

“Africa is almost like a second home for us.”
