Real Madrid will have to be at their absolute best if they hope to take something from Tuesday night’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League Last 16.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have been on a poor run of form lately, with just one win from their last four games and a drab 0-0 draw with Villarreal at the weekend suggesting Los Blancos aren’t exactly firing on all cylinders.

And, most worryingly of all, Madrid are still waiting to see if their most important player will be able to start on Tuesday.

In defence, the Spanish giants are likely to welcome back Ferland Mendy at left-back. The defender returned to training on Sunday and should be able to start. In the centre the club should start with David Alaba and Eder Militao and then Daniel Carvajal on the right.

Luckily for Ancelotti’s side, their evergreen midfield of Casemiro, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos should all be in perfect health for the clash in a match that Madrid will be heavily relying on their experience.

Up front Asensio should start on the right and Vinicius Jr will likely take up his normal spot on the left, but question marks remain over Karim Benzema’s status ahead of the game.

The France international is reportedly not quite fit enough, despite taking part in training on Sunday. However, Ancelotti may still start the striker on Tuesday and see how long he lasts.
