Kellan Lutz and Nikki Reed had a special connection on the set of Twilight and he’s surprised that they never actually dated in real life.

The 37-year-old actor is opening up about his time on set in the latest episode of co-star Ashley Greene‘s The Twilight Effect podcast.

Kellan played Emmett Cullen in the film series while Nikki played Rosalie Hale.

“I really fell in love with her as a human being in Breaking Dawn because we just had so much time to talk and she’s really, really special, has such a kind heart,” Kellan said, adding that he felt “so connected” to her.

“I’m actually kind of surprised her and I didn’t date throughout all this,” Kellan added.

Ashley admitted that she had a crush on Jackson Rathbone, who played her character Alice’s husband Jasper Hale.
