THERE may be something sinister lurking in your sink drain, and with a couple of ice cubes it could be revealed in an instant.
On her TikTok, a make-up artist and bartender that goes by Rochelle demonstrated exactly how to get this done.
Rochelle, who had just moved into her new apartment two months prior, decided to try out a trend she found on TikTok.
In a video, she poured a generous amount of ice cubes into her sink drain, followed by running water on them.
As the water ran, a brown, murky color began to come out of the sink.
Disgusted, Rochelle’s solution was to let all the water drain out of the sink, before pouring Dawn dish detergent and bleach down the drain.
After this, Rochelle attempted the ice hack again, and to her relief, the water ran clear.
While some people in the comments were shocked by the discovery, other seasoned cleaners had some tips of their own.
“Pour baking soda and vinegar and hot water down it too,” someone suggested.
Another added: “Put lemon slices to give it a citrus smell…. But baking soda and vinegar with cold water does the trick.”
A concerned viewer stated: “Woahhh never pour bleach down the sink like that, especially a kitchen sink. Bleach+vinegar releases extremely toxic gas.”
“All this does is sharpen the blades though sis. Use baking soda and vinegar to clean and deodorize,” someone advised.
If you’re looking to properly clean your sink in a manner of minutes, a cleaning expert revealed the best way to clean your sink to get it sparkling.
On her TikTok, Carolina McCauley shared how she gets her sink gleaming in just two minutes.
To start, she poured a layer of baking soda over her sink, then followed up with some Dawn dish soap over the powder.
After this, she used a powered brush to scrub her sink clean.
McCauley used the BLACK+DECKER Power Scrubber Brush, but any handheld brush should get the job done.
After a thorough rinse, she was left with a shining sink free of dirt and debris.
