Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be hoping he can shuffle his squad around ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup clash with Nottinham Forest without risking a potential banana skin in the business end of the season.
The Anfield side are still in with a shout of four competitions this season and competing in each competition will rely on the German manager delicately balancing the workload among his many stars.
In defence, the Liverpool manager’s immediate concern will be finding a replacement to the injured Trent Alexander-Arnold. James Milner usually fills in for his compatriot, but he too is struggling to overcome an injury. As such, Joe Gomez is expected to start on the right.
Elsewhere in defence, Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate are likely to start in the centre, with Virgil van Dijk offered some respite on the bench.
Milner’s fitness issues may also cause problems in midfield, where Klopp is likely to now go with a trio of Fabinho, Naby Keita and Curtis Jones.
Both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will be rested, which means Diogo Jota will be tasked with scoring the goals, alongside Roberto Firmino and Takumi Minamino.
