I spent much of July outside celebrating birthdays and soaking in summer. Taking care of our outdoor spaces was a big focus, along with taking care of my skin and finding some downtime to read and enjoy a couple of really great shows.
While work continues to be busy too, I’m always trying to remind myself that I can’t run on all cylinders all the time. The recs I’m sharing below helped me slow down a little this month. I hope you enjoy browsing through these six things I loved in July.

READ
Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
$18
This book is such a delight. I love the author’s quick, witty, and zingy writing style. If you like Gilmore Girls or The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, this book is for you. I devoured it.
MOISTURIZE
Doré La Crème
$36
This is my favorite facial cream I’ve tried all year. It has a really great consistency—it sinks right in and doesn’t make your face greasy at all. I think this cream could work well all year, although in the dry winter months, I’d probably use it in the morning and use something a little heavier at night.
WATCH
Severance on Apple TV+
Included with an Apple TV+ subscription
This is the best show I’ve watched all year. It’s beautiful and haunting. Adam Scott is amazing and Patricia Arquette is the scariest person I’ve seen on TV in a long time. I want to watch it again because there are so many little things and symbolism I think I missed. This show alone is well worth the Apple TV+ subscription in my opinion.
WASH
Sun Joe Electric Pressure Washer
$167
We live in a wooded area with tons of spider webs and everything on our outdoor patios gets dirty. This pressure washer is such a helpful tool and it works so well. I wish I would have gotten it sooner!
EXFOLIATE
NassifMD Detox Pads
$49
I learned about this type of product from @oliviasalmen on TikTok and decided to give it a try. These pads are SO good. I was worried they would be drying or irritating, especially after my experience with dermatitis, but they’re not at all. I love using them to treat areas of rough texture, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation. Even after the first week of use, I could see a difference.
WATCH
How to Change Your Mind on Netflix
Included with a Netflix Subscription
The show helps shed light on the long, cultural history of psychedelic use. There’s so much out there that we tend to close our minds to because we’ve been told it’s “bad” or “wrong.” This show is really well done and opened my mind to the power of psychedelics.
