For the last few nights, there has been a cicada singing in the fig tree. The sound carries through the still night air, and each note lingers as he calls for a mate. He emerged after a quick rain storm one stifling evening. Each night his song seems to grow more desperate, and I fear his pleas may be in vain. The monsoons have arrived and brings an unexpected but welcome shift in the weather.
