What is Ricotta Toast?
It really is so simple, kind of like avocado toast. It is ricotta cheese on toast. Ricotta is mild, creamy, and almost melts into your bread like butter. It is super versatile and you can top it with sweet or savory foods and it is so delicious both ways! Avocado toast has been all the rage, but ricotta toast deserves a some fans too!
How to Make Ricotta Toast {American Flag Style}
- Start with a good hearty bread like sourdough, or whole wheat. Toast until very brown and slightly crunchy.
- Spread a generous layer of ricotta cheese on top. You can use just regular ricotta, or if you like it more light and fluffy, whip it in a food processor for a couple of minutes until creamy.
- If you like a little more sweetness, you an drizzle a bit of honey on the ricotta before topping.
- Slice your banana, and then cut the slices in half.
- Add blueberries in a row in the left corner of the toast to represent stars. Alternate the raspberries and bananas on the rest of the toast in rows to look like stripes.
- Done and done! Enjoy!

- Ricotta Cheese – found in the dairy section of your grocery store, ricotta cheese is a healthy cheese packed with protein. You can use it straight from the container or whip it up for an amazingly smooth and creamy spread.
- Bread – you will want a hearty bread like sourdough, or a whole wheat bread.
- Fruit – blueberries, raspberries and bananas. You can substitute strawberries for raspberries if you want.

- 4 large egg
- 2 medium banana
- 1 cup blueberries
- 4 slice bread, whole wheat
- 1/4 cup cream cheese, low fat
- 1/4 cup jam, all-fruit

Hard boil the eggs. Cool and peel.

Meanwhile, cut bananas in half lengthwise and then into slices making half moons; set aside. Rinse blueberries and set aside separately.

Toast bread. Spread each slice with cream cheese. Then, spread jelly onto only 3/4 of each slice, leaving the upper left corner with cream cheese only. Place blueberries in rows in this section, representing the stars of the flag.

Next, add slices of bananas to represent the white stripes of the flag; the red jam will be the red stripes.

Serve each piece of toast with a hard boiled egg.
