Seven News weather presenter Paul Burt was about to do a live cross around dangerous surf conditions on Surfer’s Paradise when a child got into distress, last night.
He and others leapt to the rescue, pulling the 10-year-old from the water.
After the drama Burt told viewers, “He’s living, he’s breathing, he’s conscious, he’s talking. The ambulance here are doing the best to obviously keep him alert. No doubt he would have taken a fair bit of water in.”
Seven cameraman Geoff Bowden told the Courier Mail he feared Burt had also drowned during the incident after losing sight of him in the water.
“I thought we’d lost him as well as the kid,” he said.
Everyone emerged safely from the water.
Top job Paul!
