IPL 2022: Half of the IPL League matches over, 5 Big Concerns emerge for Team India’s T20 World Cup aspirations, Check OUT

Virat Kohli’s FORM: One of the biggest concerns for Team India & RCB has been Virat Kohli’s new low in IPL 2022. The champion cricketer seems to forget how to score big.

In fact, he got out for consecutive ducks as he is yet to score a fifty in IPL 2022.

India’s No.3 has managed just 119 runs in 8 innings at an average of 17. The 33-year-old has been abysmal this season with scores of 12, 5, 1, 12, 0, 0, besides 41* and 48.

Rohit Sharma’s lacklustre & uninspiring form and captaincy: If Kohli is dealing with form issues big time, his captain Rohit Sharma has also lost his mojo in IPL 2022.

In fact, MI’s consecutive losses have put a slight question mark on his captaincy as well.

With results not going Mumbai Indians’ way (yet to taste victory after 8 matches), Rohit’s own form has come under the scanner as well.

He is yet to register a fifty in IPL 2022. Rohit has managed 153 runs in 8 matches at an average of 19.13.

Jasprit Bumrah’s ability to strike goes for toss: Where is Bumrah of old? Rated as the world’s best bowler of the current era Jasprit Bumrah seems to have lost his FIREPOWER this IPL.

While he has been consistent at bowling yorkers with gun pace but has failed to be a strike bowler.

His failure to lead the MI’s bowling department is one of the big reason they are yet to taste victory in season so far. He has managed just 5 wickets in 8 matches at an average of 45.8

Ishan Kishan Not an OPTION anymore: 15 Crore plus salaried Ishan Kishan has all but LOST his claim to the Indian Team with abysmal IPL 2022.

MI & Team India opener Ishan Kishan has failed to justify his Rs 15 crore tag.

In fact, he has been a complete failure in the first 8 matches for 5-time IPL champions.

The MI opener has managed to score just 199 runs, including 81* as the only positive in the opening game. His strike rate has come down to 108.15 at the top of the order. If Kishan fails to deliver in upcoming matches, he is likely to fall out of favour.

“Ishan’s struggle against bounce and the multiple blows he has had in this IPL shows that he is not suited for conditions like Australia. There bounce is higher than here. In Australia, it will be hit right, left and centre,” Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports at the post-match show.

Who takes care of Indian Middle Order?

Shreyas Iyer- 248 runs @35.43 (2 FIFTIES)

Rishabh Pant- 188 runs @37.60 (NO Fifty)

Virat struggling, Shreyas Iyer struggling, Rishabh Pant inconsistent

It’s not just Virat Kohli who is a big concern, Shreyas Iyer is struggling in IPL 2022. Even though Shreyas has scored a couple of fifties, he has failed to finish off matches for twice champions KKR. His failure in the middle-order is one of the pressing reasons behind KKR staying seventh in the IPL 2022 Points Table. However, the stats are in favour of Shreyas with 248 runs in 8 matches.

Inconsistent Rishabh Pant

Delhi Capitals captain and India’s first-choice wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant has failed to impress in IPL 2022. He has managed to score 188 runs in 7 matches at an average of 35+ but failed to put the final nail in the coffin. He is yet to score a fifty in IPL 2022 and his ability to finish off matches is nowhere to be seen with DC struggling at sixth place with 3/7 wins in IPL 2022 Points Table.

IPL 2022 BIG POSITIVES

  • KL Rahul- 368 runs @61.33 (2 CENTURIES, 1 FIFTY)
  • Hardik Pandya- 295 runs @73.75 (3 FIFTIES)
  • Yuzvendra Chahal- 18 wickets in 7 matches @11.33 (including FIFER)
  • Kuldeep Yadav – 13 wickets in 7 matches @17.33 (including 4-fer vs KKR)

On the contrary to the above performances, the likes of KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal & Kuldeep Yadav are among the big positives in IPL 2022.

KL Rahul’s form

India’s opening prospect KL Rahul who can also play the role of a finisher has been tremendous in IPL 2022. He has already slammed a couple of centuries against 5-time champions Mumbai Indians alone this season. The LSG captain is placed second in IPL 2022 Orange Cap race with 368 runs in 8 matches at 61.33 with a tremendous strike rate of 147.79.

KULCHA

Kuldeep Yadav & Yuzvendra Chahal has taken the IPL 2022 by storm. While Chahal has taken his RCB form to RR with 18 wickets in 7 matches, Kuldeep Yadav has reinstated himself as the second-best spinner with 13 scalps in seven games.

Above all Hardik Pandya’s SUPERSHOW

The biggest positive of IPL 2022 is Hardik Pandya’s return to the top. The allrounder has made a brilliant comeback as he is now among the top 3 batters in IPL 2022 Orange Cap. He has amassed 295 runs in 6 matches at 73.75 with 3 fifties. At the same time, he is bowing to the powerplay and has so far managed to scalp 7 wickets with a best of 19/3. Besides all-round show, captain Hardik has also guided GT to 5 wins in 6 matches. He is the favourite to return for IND vs SA T20s post-IPL 2022.
