Either Guy Sebastian didn’t recall talent he’s engaged with, or he chose not to declare it, or producers edited the moment out…
Last night when Jay Sierra turned chairs on The Voice some viewers took to social media to question why coach Guy Sebastian didn’t mention that he knew the talented performer from The X Factor in 2012.
Sierra was part of boyband The Collective who finished third on the series, mentored by Ronan Keating.
Sebastian was also a judge on the same season, seeing The Collective perform week after week.
Last night there was no mention of their history, either not declared or ending up on the cutting room floor.
There’s no rule against previous talent show artists, or professionals, competing -both has happened a number of times. But it would have made better sense to include the link between the two to avoid the social media shade and news stories.
Keith Urban blocked Sebastian from choosing the act, eventually becoming the chosen coach.
Seven has been contacted for comment.
