IPL 2022: Delhi Capitals Covid Outbreak – After Covid-19 outbreak in Delhi Capitals (DC) the match between DC vs PBKS on Wednesday has been moved to Mumbai from Pune. As per the latest information by the BCCI, all Delhi players have tested negative and will be played as scheduled on 20th evening. “From April 16th onwards, the entire Delhi Capitals contingent has been put under a daily RT-PCR testing procedure. The 4th round of RT-PCR tests conducted on April 19th have returned negative.

The Delhi Capitals contingent will undergo another round of RT-PCR testing on the morning of April 20th“, BCCI declared in the official release

  • BCCI and the IPL GC took the decision in morning to shift the match to Mumbai as DC players are still locked in Quarantine and can’t travel to Pune.
  • In case the match cannot take place as scheduled on April 20, the IPL will reschedule the match.
  • Capitals’ contingent underwent a fresh round of testing on Tuesday morning.
  • The results of these tests have returned negative.

Earlier on Monday evening DC had confirmed that Aussie all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19. Other than Marsh, 3 more positive tests have been reported from DC Camp:

Delhi Capitals are to play two back-to-back games in Pune – against Punjab Kings on April 20 and Rajasthan Royals on April 22. But the DC team is yet to proceed to Pune.

Delhi Capitals Covid Outbreak: Amid the latest development there have been speculation about the possible rescheduling of their next match, against Punjab Kings on Wednesday (April 20).

However, sources have said that the schedule remains unchanged. “We have not heard of any change in the programme and the situation in the Delhi camp is manageable right now,” said multiple sources.

“For a match to go on as per schedule, a franchise must have 12 players available including seven Indians. If 12 aren’t available, then the IPL technical committee will take a call,” an IPL official confirmed to PTI.

Delhi Capitals Confirms Mitchell Marsh Hospitilization

Delhi Capitals all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has tested positive for COVID-19, following which he has been admitted to a hospital. The Delhi Capitals medical team is closely monitoring Marsh’s condition,” Delhi Capitals wrote in a statement.

Apart from Marsh, two members of DC franchise and three Taj Mahal Palace hotel staff have tested positive. Team doctor Abhijit Salvi is among those who tested positive, with the other being DC’s masseur.

Regarding the other positive cases, DC said “A few more members from the Delhi Capitals bio-bubble, including support staff members, have returned positive tests as well. Though they are all asymptomatic, their condition is being monitored closely by the franchise. All remaining members of the bubble are currently in isolation in their respective rooms, and will be tested regularly.”

“See, it’s too early to say what will happen to the match on 20th. The rules have been made clear. If DC can field 12 players, the match will go on. But it will depend on the Covid test results tomorrow. If there are no more positive cases, we are hopeful the match will go on. We are in constant touch with DC staff and the medical team,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.IN regarding the staging of DC’s next fixture on April 20 against Punjab Kings.

Earlier, Delhi Capitals physio Patrick Farhart had had been isolated after testing positive. Mitchell Marsh tested positive in the Rapid antigen test and the entire squad was put into isolation. A masseur with the team also tested positive in the more accurate RT-PCR test.

“DC were supposed to travel to Pune today but the entire squad members have been told to retire to their respective rooms and as per protocol RT PCR is being done to ascertain whether there is an outbreak in the camp or it is an isolated case like Patrick Farhart,” a BCCI source told PTI on Monday.
