Add some refined details to the default go-to and create a put-together style that is anything but lazy. (Best of all, it’s just as comfy.)
Knit Hoodie
Knit Lab on Amazon / Alt: Everlane
This waffle knit sweater hoodie is a perfect pull for spring. It’s lightweight but still warm enough for cooler days without being a furnace on hotter ones.
It’s an easy way to take your favorite sweatshirt days up a notch while keeping everything you love about your hoodie collection. Dwayne Johnson even rocked a $3,000 one on the cover of Vanity Fair – Fortunately, both of our picks are much more realistic than that.
Simple Hat
Black cap on Amazon / Upgrade: Corridor
Some guys over-correct and eschew baseball caps altogether. That’s not necessary in my opinion, you can get away from the vibrant sports-themed association by going for a dark, simple cap. A plain black one can create a wonderfully minimalist effect for the rest of your outfit, or you can upgrade to something like this city-themed American-made hat from Corridor. They also have other options including a NYC version.
Fatigue-inspired Utility Pants
Goodthreads Utility Pants / More options
They can be found by different names including “utility pants,” “fatigue pants,” “Baker pants,” or “camp pants,” but one thing is for certain: They are modern riffs on the iconic OG-107 military fatigue pant that was in service over 60 years ago. They have external seamed front top pockets that offer a super-casual feel. It’s nice to have an alternative between chinos and jeans.
Converse 70 High Top Sneaker
This retro variation on the longstanding All Star features a slightly thicker sole, better insole padding and contrasting stripes. My preference is the “parchment” colorway – a light, natural tan that will go with just about anything and hides a bit of dust and dirt thanks to not being true white.
