Ravindra Jadeja is an Indian cricketer. He is an all-rounder who bats left-handed and bowls orthodox left-arm spin. In the Indian Premier League, he captains the Chennai Super Kings. He plays first-class cricket for Saurashtra.

Jadeja served as vice-captain of the Indian U-19 cricket team that won the World Cup in Malaysia in 2008, led by former Indian captain Virat Kohli. On 8 February 2009, he made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka, scoring an unbeaten 60 off 77 balls. His Test debut, however, came almost four years later, on December 13, 2012, against England in Nagpur.

The Chennai Super Kings paid $2 million for Jadeja during the 2012 IPL Players Auction. After the Chennai Super Kings were banned from the IPL for two seasons, he was purchased by the Gujarat Lions in the 2016 IPL Players Auction for 9.5 crores.

When he dismissed Sam Billings at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on 22 January 2017, Jadeja became the first Indian left-arm spinner to take 150 One Day International wickets.  In March 2017, he surpassed Ravichandran Ashwin to become the world’s top-ranked bowler, a position he had held for a long time. From the 2022 IPL season onwards, he will captain the Chennai Super Kings, succeeding MS Dhoni.

Ravindra Jadeja Indian Premier League (IPL)

Ravindra Jadeja was chosen by the Rajasthan Royals for the inaugural season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008, and he was instrumental in their victory (Royals defeated Chennai Super Kings in the final). Jadeja scored 135 runs in 14 games at a strike rate of 131.06, with his best score of 36* against Kings XI Punjab. In 2009, he did even better, scoring 295 runs at a strike rate of 110.90 and conceding less than 6.5 runs per over. [39] Rajasthan Royals captain Shane Warne described Jadeja as a “superstar in the making.” Warne also dubbed him “Rockstar.”

Jadeja was barred from playing in the 2010 IPL due to contractual irregularities. In 2011, he was purchased for $950,000 by the Kochi Tuskers Kerala. The Kochi Tuskers were kicked out of the IPL in September 2011, and again in the IPL player auction in 2012.

Chennai Super Kings paid $2 million for Jadeja (approx. Rs. 9.8 crores) after a tie-breaker with the Deccan Chargers, who bid the same amount. Jadeja was the most expensive player in the auction this year.  He was named Man of the Match in the season’s second match against the Deccan Chargers for his all-around performance (48 runs off 29 balls, 5/16 in 4 overs).

He was named to the Cricinfo CLT20 XI for his 2014 performances.

Pat Cummins of the Kolkata Knight Riders caused havoc against the Mumbai Indians, scoring a record-breaking 14-ball fifty in The 14th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 will take place on Wednesday at the MCA Stadium in Pune (April 6).

On his way to a whirlwind 56 off 15 balls, Cummins smashed 34 runs in fellow Australian pacer Daniel Sams’ third over, conceding a total of 35 runs.

Cummins joined Chris Gayle and Ravindra Jadeja on the list of batters who have scored the most runs in a single over against a bowler. Chris Gayle of West Indies leads the way with 36 runs against Kochi Tuskers bowler Prasanth Parameswaran in IPL 2011, while Jadeja smashed RCB’s Harshal Patel for 36 runs in IPL 2021.
