Sasha Makoviy, 33, has described her worry about her daughter’s future in case the family die and spoke of her desperation to ensure her daughter’s safety in such a tragic event. Sasha’s daughter Vira, 2, stood with her back towards the camera with her name, date of birth and phone numbers scrawled in ink across her back.
Ms Makoviy wrote out the details on the first day of the conflict as she prepared to flee from her home in Kyiv.
She said: “I decided to put the information on Vira’s back because I was really scared.
“She is the most precious thing in my life so I couldn’t imagine if we lost each other.”
Sasha continued: “I thought if I would die, she could find who she is, from what family she’s come, and maybe to find some familiar people who could take care of her. And that’s why.”
Sasha and Vira successfully fled to the south of France where she then chose to share the image of her daughter which has pulled at the heart strings of followers on Twitter and Instagram.
In France, the mother and daughter duo are getting “a lot of help” and she stated that the French “people are so nice”.
Ms Makoviy said: “Firstly it was shared by some of my friends and then it was shared between Ukrainians.
“It’s really touching them because thousands of other parents had to do this.

“It’s so horrible because I had in Kyiv everything I need: a beautiful life, a peaceful life.”
Ms Makoviy wrote the details on Vira’s back to the sound of nearby explosions as the Russians invaded.
Despite now being in safety, Ms Makoviy remains anxious about their safety due to the traumatic events happening in her own country.
“Even here in France, when we are walking in the country with Vira, every moment I’m just scared about something like mines”, she said.
