Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel heads into this weekend’s Premier League fixture against Brentford with a number of injury concerns on his mind.
Andreas Christensen picked up an injury before the international break, and although he was still called up to the Denmark squad, he didn’t feature in either match against the Netherlands or Serbia.
The second of those games was against Serbia on Tuesday, so it seems that he is still struggling for fitness and probably won’t play for Chelsea on Saturday.
There is, of course, plenty of speculation regarding the future of Christensen, as Barcelona basically confirmed his arrival on a free transfer this summer.
There is more positive news surrounding Reece James, though, as he was not called up to the England squad which has allowed him to continue to recover from the muscular injury suffered against Burnley.
Callum Hudson-Odoi could be available again, too.
Edouard Mendy will start behind a back three of Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger.
Should James be available, he should slot back in on the right-hand side, with Marcos Alonso on the opposite flank.
N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic might be given the nod in the middle of the park.
Mason Mount, Hakim ZIyech and Kai Havertz should lead the line, with the likes of Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku again having to settle for a place on the bench.
Christian Pulisic will probably be on the bench too after a late return from internationals with the United States.
