Recently, I gave my husband flowers — specifically, a bunch of tulips from the bodega. They were beautiful but droopy, as tulips often are. I didn’t think much of it, until a reader named Caitlin left a comment on Instagram:
“I recently learned that if you poke a straight pin/needle through the stem right at the base of the flower, the tulips will stand up straight, if you like them that way.”
So, I tried it. Here are the droopy flowers.
And here are the flowers the next morning! It really worked! (I’ve heard that putting a penny into the vase helps keep them upright, too.)
Thoughts? Any other flower tips? I love to hear them…
P.S. Spring nail polish, and 10 reader comments on relaxing.
