Solo Climb – The New York Times

0

German climber Jost Kobusch has been attempting to be the first person to scale Everest, the world’s tallest mountain, alone in winter, without supplemental oxygen.

Use your imagination to write the opening of a short story or poem inspired by this short video of his climb.

If you like, try writing from Kobusch’s point of view: How fearful or brave do you feel? What led you to this moment? Why did you journey alone? What other thoughts fill your mind as you strive to reach the summit?

Tell us in the comments, then read the related article to learn more about Kobusch’s mountaineering adventure.
