The term parallel play usually refers to young children playing independently alongside one another. It informs how toddlers learn to interact with others, share and become social beings. And some believe it can be beneficial for adult relationships, too.

What benefits or drawbacks do you think could stem from such a dynamic? Have you ever spent time with someone meaningful to you engaging in separate activities? If so, has it strengthened your relationship? If not, do you think the practice has merit, or does it seem foolish?

Tell us in the comments, then read the related article to learn more about parallel play for grown-ups.
