One of Nick Cannon’s many doors closed on Thursday. After just one season, Nick’s self-titled talk show has ended, per multiple reports. Thursday’s taping marked its final production. The longtime TV host confirmed the news regarding ‘Nick Cannon’ on the same day.

“It’s interesting. This is show business, and the biggest word is ‘business.’ I show up every day, bright and early, to give you a show, and I am also a businessman,” he said.

Show Representatives Respond

According to ‘Entertainment Tonight,’ representatives of the show’s production and distribution, also confirmed the news in a statement. Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein spoke on the difficulty of the decision, while thanking Nick and the production team.

“It’s never easy to cancel a production with clear potential, but, after a great deal of deliberation and examining various options, we have made the difficult business decision to end production on Nick Cannon,” the provided statement said.

This business decision might’ve been influenced by the performance of the show. Per ‘Variety,’ the segment “never hit a ratings stride with a 0.4 season-to-date.” Production will allegedly wrap for the final time on Thursday with the filming of two episodes. However, viewers can expect original episodes until the end of the season in May.

“Our thanks go to the very talented Nick Cannon and our wonderful production team, and we wish Nick continued success with his many hit ventures,” the statement said.

Nick Thanks His Talk Show Audiences

For Nick, this particular venture was “a dream come through.” Still, he’s not letting the cancellation blur his dreams.

“This has been a dream come true. I want to expand and elevate. We ain’t going nowhere but it’s about broadening my audience,” Nick said.

And Nick, for those who aren’t aware, already has a pretty wide reach. He’s the current host of Wild ‘N Out’ and ‘The Masked Singer,’ two popular television segments. Still, in his response on Thursday, Nick thanked the new family he built with his talk show.

“You have become my family. Thank you. We laugh together, we cry together, we pray together. I do what I can and we let God do what I can’t,” Nick said.” He later continued, “This has been a blessing and dream come true. Thank you for letting me come into your homes.”
