PAK vs AUS, Day 3 LIVE: Openers David Warner and Usman Khawaja gave a terrific start to Australia as they shared a 100-run opening stand in their first innings on Day 3 of the first Test against Pakistan at Rawalpindi on Sunday. Both the batsmen slammed fifties to end a successful first session for Australia with the score at 138/0. Pakistan declared their first innings after putting 476 on the board. Their plan to let the Australian openers face the new ball in the last session under dying lights didn’t work out as planned yesterday as bad light forced Pakistan to bowl only one over with spinner Sajad Khan. So far in the first innings, the pitch didn’t had much to offer as it was entirely a flat deck on which the Pakistan batsmen racked up runs. Resuming the day at 245/1 Imam-ul-Haq and Azhar Ali continued from where they left off. The duo shared 200-run partnership as Imam-ul-Haq converted his maiden century into 150 with a brilliant flick down the leg side. The pair went into lunch with the score at 302/1.

Immediately after the break, Australian captain Pat Cummins finally got the breakthrough as he dismissed Imam-ul-Haq for 157 by trapping him LBW. Azhar Ali however continued his brilliant batting by scoring his 19th Test ton. Babar Azam joined Azhar at the middle and Babar was keen to improve the run rate and started playing his beautiful drives. Azhar too soon joined the skipper as he started hitting a flurry of boundaries and reached 150. The duo went into Tea with the score at 394/2.
In the third session, Australia finally managed to break the partnership, that was starting to build, with a moment of brilliance from Marnius Labuschagne at the field. He dismissed Babar Azam run out with a direct throw. Azhar Ali was then dismissed for 181 by Labuschagne when he induced a reverse sweep from the batsmen. Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Rizwan took Pakistan to 476/4 before Babar Azam declared the innings.
