Tonight a special one-hour edition of A Current Affair pays tribute to the life of Shane Warne who tragically passed away yesterday in Koh Samui, Thailand.
Brent Williams, Nine’s Director of Sport, said: “Today we have lost a sporting giant and a cricket immortal. Quite simply, Shane Warne changed the game forever. On the field he was a pioneer. In the commentary box he was a revolution. In life he was a force of nature whose engaging personality and sheer enthusiasm for life was infectious. At Nine we were privileged to witness his greatness on many fronts and we will forever cherish the memories. Our deepest condolences go to Shane’s parents, brother, family and especially his children Jackson, Brooke and Summer. Warnie, you will always be a treasured member of the Wide World of Sports family and never forgotten. RIP mate.”
We’ll hear from his fans, teammates and friends as we celebrate the life of the greatest Australian bowler of all time.
The special episode, hosted by Deb Knight, will also feature extended footage of one of the last ever one-on-one interviews Warne gave.
In the 2021 interview with Seb Costello, Warne tells of his immense love for his children and the sacrifices he made on his journey to become one of the greatest sporting heroes Australia has ever produced.
Warne candidly speaks of having finally arrived a place where he was happy in his role as an adoring and doting father.
Plus we’ll feature highlights from his illustrious career.
7pm tonight on Nine. (Space Invaders is 8pm, Movie: Sully 9pm).
